The importance of water....EVERYDAY.

Our bodies need water in order to function at its best performance.  Our bodies are always busy trying to maintain homeostasis, and being properly hydrated is an important component in that process. Our cells are approximately 70% water.  The water within the cell is a solvent and helps to break down both waste and nutrients.  The waste material is removed and the nutrients are used by the larger formation of cells.  This is why it is so important to be hydrated-EVERYDAY.  Not just after a massage or exercise but EVERYDAY.  You should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water EVERYDAY.  I know..... you don't like water or water makes you have to go to the bathroom. I have heard it all.  Water has no taste.  If you read above then you should be thrilled that your body is doing one of its many jobs by making you urinate.  Remember, it is removing toxins and waste.

When you are figuring out how many ounces of water you need per day, you also need to consider if you do activities that make you sweat and also the temperature outside.  You may need to add more ounces to your total to ensure you are receiving the adequate amount. Mild dehydration symptoms include headache, fatigue, dry mouth, crankiness, dark colored urine, dry skin, constipation and thirst.

body weight divided by 2=how many ounces needed per day

People with congestive heart failure or kidney disease may not need to be drinking this much water, so please consult with your healthcare provider to discuss how much water you should be drinking when you have these conditions or your intuition tells you to.

Water after a massage is very important.  It will help to flush out the toxins and waste that have been removed from your soft tissues & are now in the blood stream.  But remember, water is important EVERYDAY for your overall health.

Be well and drink water!
